This site is dedicated to all the pampered pets in the world. To those who understand a dog is more than a ‘pet’ -welcome.
Dogs can and do positively impact people’s lives. Dogs are loyal friends, who love you unconditionally, and are always happy to greet you…ask anyone who has ever owned and loved a dog.
The idea for Opulent Pet began to take shape in late 2009 with a mission to:
- Provide helpful pet advice and tips to our readers based on highly quality information with cited references.
- Promote and support non-profit organizations dedicated to the well-being of pets.
- Offer personal reviews on a variety of products and services found in the market today for your “opulent pet.”
- Promote a variety of dog products the OP Pack and I think are cool, handy, or just downright adorable, from some of the best suppliers in the pet industry today. These items are displayed in the Simply Posh area.
- Offer interesting and fun stories, videos, and photos, as well as random thoughts from my muses, the OP Pack, who comprise the majority of the Opulent Pet (OP) Staff.
I am passionate about dogs in general and believe that as their caregiver and human companion, I owe it to them to provide the very best care I can for them. I also love to learn, and blogging is a great way to share knowledge, provided it’s factual rather than opinion-based. So, beginning in late 2009, I embarked on an educational journey for myself and anyone else interested in coming along for the ride. Since then, I have spent countless hours learning, researching, and developing this site. A great deal of time, energy, passion, and dedication has gone into what you see today….and, because it is a continual work-in-progress, there is much more planned down the road. It is therefore my hope that you, dear reader, will find real benefit here and visit us often.
Until next time, be well and be happy.
~Eva Marie
Please allow me introduce you to the Opulent Pet (OP) Staff:
- Penelope (aka: Miss P): alpha pup, blogger and product tester. She was the first Chihuahua to choose me as her companion. Penelope is the cool & collected one who calmly leads the pack when I’m not around.
- Ashley: blogger and product tester. Ashley is a spirited and funny little Chihuahua who thinks she’s the alpha pup.
And featuring our camera-shy members…
- Hennessey: Editor at Large, blogger and product tester. Hennessey is a Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix who came to stay with us for awhile as we helped her regain her trust in people again. She is a rescue pup from the shelter, who was originally removed from a very abusive owner. She has made terrific strides in the last two years, and having also firmly planted herself within our hearts, she has become a permanent member of the OP Pack. Hennessey is the largest dog in this photograph (white coat) and is sitting next to Miss P, by the door.
- Cooper: Second newest pack member, blogger, product tester. Cooper was rescued from a rancher who took him in when he was dumped off on the side of the road around six-months of age. The rancher also has about 500 head of cattle and 200 horses, along with more than a dozen other abandoned dogs too. Little Cooper was running around between the calves feet playing chicken and the rancher was concerned for this poor little guy’s safety. He asked a friend of his to find Cooper a home so he could avoid going to the shelter. His friend knew right where to bring him…Today, Cooper is a welcomed addition to our permanent family. In order to preserve his known heritage, we have given Cooper an alternate name, Runs with cattle. We feel this fits his personality perfectly and Cooper apparently agrees, since he answers to either name. Cooper is the one with the brown cow spots on a white coat in the foreground of the above picture.
- Jasmine: Newest pack member, blogger and product tester. Jasmine is a year-and-a-half old Finnish Spitz/German Shepard mix (we’re guessing) who lived in two “no-kill” shelters for about a year of her life. She was very shy the day we met (which is why she had not been adopted); however, the animal rescue center was thrilled when they realized Jasmine and I were quickly forming a special bond. Two months later, she has blended nicely into the pack. Jasmine is very curious by nature and loves to investigate things so I believe she’ll prove to be a great product tester in the future.
And then there’s me…
- Eva Marie: pack leader, researcher, blogger, editor, web administrator, photographer, bona fide dog lover, and best friends with Penelope, Ashley, Hennessey, and Cooper. It is true this website is my creation, but much of my inspiration must be credited to my furry, four-legged friends. They are my muses and treasured family members - much more than merely animal companions – and I am eternally grateful to all of them.
By the way, if you’re wondering about the fifth (all black) dog in the picture – it’s Bella. She is another rescue pup we fostered. She is a very sweet and fun-loving dachshund who was placed with a wonderful family where she is being spoiled and loving it. ** A very BIG thank you to the Dorris Family **
Opulent Pet believes in supporting animal organizations such as the ASPCA, the Humane Society, and rescue / foster agencies. Some of these agencies and organizations may be occasionally highlighted in posts periodically to encourage reader donations.
If you have any suggestions for how I may improve this site, please feel free to contact me.
Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.
