Give Thanks and Donate to PETA

From time to time, you will see us highlight various charitable organizations in The Little Dog Blog, that are committed to humane animal welfare. The OP Staff also rotates banner links for these organizations under the “Spotlight on Pet Advocacy” section of our home page. It’s our way of encouraging others to donate to these worthy causes.

As another way to give thanks this year, mom is making a contribution to PETA, in addition to her monthly contributions to the ASPCA. Her decision to help animals even more has inspired me to help, but…just how does a little Chihuahua like me do that?  And then it came to me…I could post an article about PETA to encourage others to help too. There are so many wonderful charities out there, and PETA is one of them.

According to the PETA website:

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rights organization in the world, with more than 2 million members and supporters.

PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in the clothing trade, in laboratories, and in the entertainment industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of beavers, birds, and other “pests” as well as cruelty to domesticated animals.

PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns.

If you love animals, I hope you will consider donating to your favorite animal welfare organization this year.  The OP Pack and I are planning on posting a list of our ‘pawsitively’ favorite groups soon.  If you have an organization you would to see listed on our site, please contact me at Ashley@OpulentPet.com.

Gotta run now, mom has made a special carrot treat just for us!  Yum!  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
